摘要：
The WIYN 3.5m telescope combines large aperture, wide held of view, and excellent image quality. Instrumented with a multi-object spectrograph (with high-spectral-resolution capability) and a large-format CCD imager, it is optimally suited for studies of open clusters. The WIYN consortium (Wisconsin, Indiana, Yale, NOAO) includes investigators in numerous areas of open cluster research. This combination of personnel and facilities has spawned the WIYN Open Cluster Study (WOCS) with the goals of 1) producing comprehensive photometric, astrometric, and spectroscopic data for new fundamental open clusters and 2) addressing key astrophysical problems with these data.
