Constructing the Digital Proverbial Thesaurus: Theoretical and Methodological Implications

The present paper discusses the theoretical and methodical implications which occurred at the beginning of constructing the Croatian paremiological thesaurus. Unlike other languages that already have paremiological dictionaries published, there are no contemporary dictionaries or paremiological collections of Croatian language in known existence. Previous research showed that there is a need to create not only an electronic paremiological dictionary, but a thesaurus as well. The present paper therefore discusses the structure of the Croatian paremiological thesaurus and searching options, as well as the notions of defining the terms, facets and connections between them, exemplified by one of the most popular Croatian proverbs.
