Social inequality in the information and knowledge society

One of the key terms in understanding current, mainly socio-economic, transformations is the concept of an information or knowledge society, which Supposes a decisive break with the realities of the industrial society. Oven the coming of a new kind of society, the question arises what significance this change might have for social inequality as a core area of social research. Starting With an account of the main concepts, i.e. Peter Drucker's knowledge society, Daniel Bell's post-industrial society and Manuel Castells's informational society, and this article discusses the author's perspectives on social inequality and the possible relevance for research in social inequality.
