摘要：
This paper presents the loss free slotted optical packet switched metro ring network architecture, which provides contention-free transmission of fixed sized packets while at the same time exploiting the benefit from statistical multiplexing in slotted Optical Packet Switched networks. Challenges related to fairness regarding this special network architecture are investigated. In particular, the observed fairness and asymmetry of the traffic is quantified. Simulation results show that there is a dependence between the link load uniformity index, fairness index, queuing delay and system load.
