Incorporating Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health in Pediatric Primary Care

Female adolescents in the United States are at high risk for adverse sexual and reproductive health (SRH) outcomes. Few pediatric primary care practices offer contraceptive and gynecological services, presenting a gap in care. The purpose of this project was to evaluate the feasibility of a new adolescent SRH program at a private pediatric primary care practice. Results reveal that there is demand for SRH care, and meeting these needs in a primary care setting is appropriate and feasible. Evaluating financial sustainability and advocating for policy change to increase private clinics' ability to provide SRH care are important future steps. (C) 2018 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.
