摘要
Many new types of test specimens are being used to support the development of aerospace engineering design. With these demands it is not always possible, or effective, to use traditional fatigue crack monitoring techniques. A Crack Detection and Monitoring (C-DAM) system has been developed that continuously monitors the fatigue cracking performance of specimens during testing. The C-DAM system is based on a computerised multiplexing ultrasonic flaw detector. The system has been successfully used on high load transfer (HLT) joint aluminium alloy specimen testing and has significantly reduced overall test durations.
