摘要
A review with 32 refs. covering fundamentals of catalytic (or reactive) distillation, catalysts with particular reference to superacids, and practical applications of catalytic distillation in the processes for making methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE), methyl acetate, and coumene. Installation and process cost savings, heat economies and avoidance of hot spots is emphasized as compared with conventional distillation processes.
