摘要
Water retention pavements are considered as one of the countermeasures for the heat island phenomenon. However, in order to improve the sustainability of the reduction of road surface temperature, the greater volume of pore water in the base course than that in the surface course should be used actively. In this study, we examined the moisture transfer characteristics of base course materials and performed irradiation experiments using accumulation columns to investigate the reduction effect of the road surface temperature about these materials. Moreover, we developed a design method for a layered base course on the basis of the experimental results.
