摘要：
The paper presents how the WWW technology can be used as a tool for modeling real forest fire-related information and supporting forest management activities. More precisely, it presents design and implementation issues of the Fire Information Server (FIS) that was developed in the framework of a European research project named DEDICS. The main objective of FIS was concentrated on collecting and distributing real information about fire disasters throughout the Internet. Moreover, FIS supports services for accessing fire simulation functions provided by DEDICS information analysis components in order to enable researchers to evaluate their wildfire dynamics models.
