摘要
An increasingly growing importance is given today to the problem of the foreign direct investment (FDI), which is seen as a major stimulus to the economic growth. Attracting FDI has become increasingly important, being often based on the assumption that greater FDI flows bring some economic benefits to the country that receives them. They contribute to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), to the gross fixed capital formation and to the balance of payments. Over time, there have been a number of empirical studies that have shown a positive link between higher levels of the GDP and FDI flows, although this link does not remain valid for all regions. The bidirectional relationship between the foreign direct investment and the economic growth is due, on the one hand, to their impact on the economic environment in each country and on the other hand, to the positive influences which the sustained and sustainable economic growth has on the perceived foreign capital inflows.
