摘要
In order to enhance the quality of pedestrian environment. local pedestrian walking behavior is of prime importance to study for the planning and design of the pedestrian facilities in Hong Kong urban areas. This paper examines the movements of pedestrians within congested urban area in Hong Kong with and without the implementation of part-time Pedestrianisation Scheme (PS). Causeway Bay was chosen as the study area in which PS and/or pedestrian-only streets had been introduced in 2001. Comprehensive surveys have been conducted to derive the pedestrian travel patterns in terms of two pedestrian Origin-Destination (OD) trip matrices for the study area with and without the implementation of PS. These two OD trip matrices have been compared to illustrate the impacts of PS on pedestrian travel patterns and service performances of pedestrian facilities.
