A series of both 5,6-O-protected and unprotected 2-O-alkyl derivatives of l-ascorbic acid were synthesized using silylation-alkylation-desilylation sequence in a one-pot manner. These derivatives were screened for their anticancer activity against human breast cancer cell line (MCF-7) and exhibited decent cytotoxicity.
