Frequency selective surface based two-dimensional displacement sensor with high sensitivity

摘要
A two-dimensional displacement sensor based on the two-layer frequency selective surface (FSS) is designed. The FSS with two perpendicular half wavelength (lambda/2) resonators in different length is polarization dependent. And by means of the resonant characteristic of the lambda/2 resonators and the polarization dependency, both the theoretical analysis and simulated results show that the FSS based displacement sensor can distinguish displacement in two dimensions. And the simulated results show that the two-dimensional displacement sensor has high sensitivity of 372MHz/mm in y direction and 162.4MHz/mm in x direction. Thus it has the advantages of two-dimensional displacement sensing, wireless, chipless, and low cost.
