摘要
Fluvicola nengeta (Tyrannidae) breeding at an urban area in Rio de Janeiro city, RJ, Brazil. We report observations on three nests of a Fluvicola nengeta reproductive pair. The nests, with an oval shape and a lateral entrance, were built at an urban area with intense flux of pedestrian and vehicles, 100 m away to the nearest body of water. Only the female incubated the eggs (15 days). From hatching to the fifth day the female stayed in the nest sometime, usually after delivering food to the chicks. The food delivered to the chicks was apparently only arthropods. From the total food items recorded (n = 191), 66% were delivered by the male and 34% by the female. All nests were found destroyed before the young fledged and we recorded a Rupornis magnirostris predation on the third nest. This suggests that predation may be an important factor to reduce the breeding success of F. nengeta at urban areas.
