Indenylvanadium(V) compounds synthesis, structure, and NMR spectroscopic studies

Syntheses of the indenylvanadium(V) compounds are described: (C4H9N)-C-t = V(eta(5)-C9H7)Cl-2 (1), (C4H9N)-C-t = V(eta(5)-C9H7)Br-2 (2), (C4H9N)-C-t = V(eta(5)-C9H7)((OC4H9)-C-t)Cl (3), (C4H9N)-C-t = V(eta(1)-C9H7)((OC4H9)-C-t)(2) (4), (C4H9N)-C-t = V(eta(1)- C9H7)(2)((OC4H9)-C-t) (5), (C4H9N)-C-t = V(eta(1)-C9H7)(eta(5)-C5H5). ((OC4H9)-C-t) (6), (C4H9N)-C-t = V(eta(1)-C9H7)(eta(5)-C5H5)((NHC4H9)-C-t) (7). All compounds were totally characterized by spectroscopic methods (MS; H-1, C-13, V-51 NMR), 3 by single crystal X-ray diffraction. For 6 the presence of the diastereomeres RR/SS and RS/SR was shown by NMR spectroscopy. The chlorovanadate (IV) complex [(NH3C4H9)-C-t](2)(+)[((C4H9N)-C-t)(7)V-7, (mu-Cl)(14)Cl-2](2-) has been obtained by decomposition of 1 in solution; the crystal structure indicates a wheel structure with hydrogen bonds between the tert-butylammonium cations and the complex anion.
