摘要
Poly (trimethylene terephthalate) polymers are of renewed interest because of Shell's recent break-through in lower-cost monomer processes. The polymer fits very well in the family of aromatic polyesters previously populated only by PET and PBT and has been shown to be a good fiber material. Polymer properties are similar in some respects to both PET and PET but in glass reinforced formulations the outstanding strength, toughness, and stiffness at moderate glass loading allows this new PTT polymer to compete for ETP applications presently satisfied by PET, PBT and NYLON 6/6.
