THE RELATIONSHIP OF RESIDENTS TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF TOURISM: A COMPARISON OF TWO REGIONS OF THE CZECH REPUBLIC

The tourism sustainability is currently a big topic. Some destinations, and some in the Czech Republic, are faced with overload and a big preasure on a resident community. While emerging power on the part of the residents ' community is an important think for the development of destination. The topic of the relationship between the host and visitor community is not firmly anchored in literature. This article deals with the region in terms of socio-psychological sustainability. It was calculated the value of tourist activity for the two regions (Plzen and Karlovy Vary) and the results were compared. The research was supplemented by the results of a survey on the resident community. There are big differences between the tourist activity in both regions. Residents of both regions did not see the development of tourism with very big negatives. Some of the negatives related to the increased traffic and crime. The positives are seen in the creation of jobs and better care for the environment cultural potential.
