Language acquisition in two children with developmental dysphasia: longitudinal and comparative study.

A longitudinal and comparative study of two children with severe developmental dysphasia was conducted using linguistic analysis to determine to what extent language production in this clinical diagnosis followed a similar course of maturation. The two subjects were followed for two years since the age of 4 years 6 months. Initially, these two children exhibited the same profile but two years Eater, Subject 1's performance reveal a deficit on phonological lexicon whereas subject 2's reveal a dramatic deficit on morphological lexicon. These observations suggest that the progression of language in young children could be assessed by neurolinguistic research methods.
