摘要
Self-efficacy refers to confidence in one's ability to perform specific behaviors in specific situations such as exercising. The aims of the present study were: to translate a Self-Efficacy for Exercise Questionnaire (SEEQ); to adapt it to the Mexican context; to examine its factorial structure; and to assess its infernal consistency and nomological validity. The sample was composed by 530 participants from the urban area of Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico (48.2% males and 51.8% females; M-age= 33.22; SD = 15.27; range = 11-76). Results from both exploratory and confirmatory factorial analyses confirmed the structural validity of the Mexican version of SEEQ, as satisfactory values were obtained for the coefficients of internal consistency. The variance of self-efficacy through the stages of change was in line with the transtheoretical model, thus supporting the nomological validity of the Mexican version of the SEEQ.
