摘要
The elastic stress intensity factors are important parameters used to define the stress level at a crack tip. In the paper, the linear elastic solutions for an infinite thin-walled cylinder containing an circumferential edge crack loaded in bending are studied. The finite element procedure is employed to determine the elastic stress distribution in the immediate vicinity of the crack line and then the corresponding J-integral is evaluated to link the desired stress intensity factor. Finally, numerical examples are given to demonstrate the developed numerical procedure and the effect of different crack depths on stress intensity factor is investigated.
