摘要
There are three places in Hungary where pear cultivars are being conserved in gene banks: Ujfeherto, Keszthely and Mosonmagyarovar. The facility at Ujfeherto, located in north-east Hungary, was established in 1975. There are currently 454 pear cultivars being preserved there. The second gene bank in Keszthely, on the west part of the Lake Balaton, was established in 1981. This facility preserves 256 pear cultivars. In 2000 a third pear collection was established in Mosonmagyarovar. Nine characteristics are being evaluated in these three genebanks. Correlations were determined between the morphological and phenological characteristics and the climatic parameters of the different locations. Contrasts were noted between the old pears of Hungarian origin and the new foreign cultivars.
