Electromagnetic Performance Comparison of 18-slot/26-pole and 18-slot/10-pole Fractional Slot Permanent Magnet Surface-Mounted Machines

摘要
In this paper, an 18-slot/26-pole fractional slot permanent magnet surface-mounted machine (FSPMSM) with coil-pitch of 2 slot-pitches is firstly proposed. The torque production of this machine is based on both the principle of fractional slot machine and magnetic gearing effect. Its performance is analysed and compared with that of an 18-slot/10-pole FSPMSM. The results show that the 18-slot/26-pole FSPMSM has larger torque and torque density, smaller torque ripple, better flux weakening capability and larger high efficiency area than its 10-pole counterpart. Furthermore, the feasible slot/pole combinations of FSPMSMs with coil-pitch of 2 slot-pitches based on the same working principle are proposed.
