Review of Supply Chain Management in Manufacturing Systems

Manufacturing systems have all along been inflexible to market and environmental changes. Hence, the need for bringing in flexibility and agility into the entire supply chain in order to ensure the customer receives the right product at the right time and with good quality. However, it is difficult to achieve the ideal scenario due to reasons of raw material availability, vendor management, inflexible manufacturing systems and collaboration. This paper, aims to study the current supply chain strategies in the market, evaluate their strengths and drawbacks while suggesting areas of research and providing scope for further improvements and studies.
