摘要
The present work is aimed at characterising the electric discharge machining of AISI304 steel on EDM with the copper electrode. Twenty-seven experiments are conducted by varying EDM parameters such as current, pulse-on-time, and electrode diameter. Each test was performed for 20 min and ED30 was used as a die-electric fluid. The performance measures surface roughness (SR) assessed. Formulation of experimental layout was done using Taguchi method to analyse the effect of each parameter on the machining characteristics, and to predict the optimal choice for each EDM parameter such as peak current, pulse duration and electrode diameter. It is found that these parameters have a significant influence on machining characteristic such that surface roughness (SR). The analysis of the Taguchi method reveals that peak current significantly affects the SR and experimental results are provided to verify this approach. (C) 2017 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
