摘要
To address the energy and sustainability challenges that lie ahead, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and other oil and gas-producing countries in the region need to develop comprehensive national energy strategies and policies suited to the social, economic, environmental and geopolitical intricacies of the region. While an energy strategy designed specifically for each country in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region should be steered primarily by national concerns, we must all recognize that there is tremendous opportunity for coordinated action. Given the long history of energy leadership on the global stage, the MENA countries now have the opportunity to extend that leadership well into the 21st century and beyond.
