Land Expansion and Economic Growth of the Development Zones in China

This paper examines the long run relationship between land expansion and economic growth of the development zones, taking Tianjing economic and technological development zone as a case. The results indicate that there are obvious interactions between GDP and land use scale of the development zone, which means land expansion would bring economic growth, and economic growth would cause land expansion. Besides, Land use scale increase is the reason of labour increase. There are no obvious relationship between land use scale and capital. A stable long-run correlation exists among GDP, capital, labour and land use scale. Seen from the impulse response results, capital and GDP shock are the main factors of land use scale increase.
