摘要
The aim of the paper is to deal with some assumptions according to effectiveness and quality in teachers' further education. The article summarizes a part of the results of the survey (2010. august - october) on teachers' views on the effectiveness of development of competences in further education in Latvia during last three years. Since regaining independence in 1991, state educational policy of Latvia is under ongoing reconstruction. The reforms in education necessarily are connected with social and economical changes. Teachers' further education and continuous professional development is compulsory for development of society and education system as well. During last twenty years centralised top-down system slowly turns to autonomy. Issues on teachers' professionalism and effective competence development in further education are topical problems in EU and Latvia.
