PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCES OF FUTURE TEACHERS AND EDUCATION FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

摘要
In the given article the results of the research of future teachers' level of professional competences are analyzed. The aim of the research is to determine the desirable and real levels of professional competences as seen by the students, university lecturers and employers. The research gives the answers to the following questions: what are the differences between the future teachers' desirable and real competences in students' self-evaluation and in the evaluation of University lecturers and employers? Are there any differences in the evaluation of the levels of competences by the students and teachers who study and work in the ESD programs and those not included into these programs? The students and lecturers of Daugavpils University as well as the administration of schools of Latgale region, 75 people in total, took part in the research. Questionnaire by Grekov and Popova was used in the study.
