摘要
The society rely on universities to create, sustain and propagate knowledge, so as to realize sustainable growth in Nigeria. The study therefore examined how Retention Strategies can influence Employee Satisfaction and Employee Engagement in a Nigeria Private University. The descriptive research design was adopted whereby self-administered questionnaire were shared randomly among respondents in a private faith-based university in Nigeria using Convenience method. A sample size of Two hundred and ninety-seven (297) respondents was expended, which was ascertained using the Taro Yamani's statistical modus operandi. The researchers personally disseminated and retrieved the copies of questionnaire from the respondents which amounted to a response rate of 75%. The questionnaire responses were captured and analysed using regression and correlation techniques. However, the study indicated that retention strategies have positive influence on employees' satisfaction and engagement. This suggests that retention strategies such as recognition and compensation have noteworthy influence on employee's satisfaction and engagement. Grounded on the findings, the study recommended that employees should be recognized and well compensated for the effort they put into their job as it would lead to higher satisfaction, engagement and thus higher performance.
