摘要：
New testing techniques and their automation in transfusion medicine offer rapid, sensitive testing and a reduction in technical staff with no loss in accuracy or safety. In this article we compare and contrast three new technologies. solid phase assays, gel tests, and affinity column. The challenge will be to determine which technology comes closest to meeting a laboratory's needs. The solid phase technology has been fully automated and is awaiting approval by the Food and Drug Administration. Automation of the other two technologies is in process.
