摘要
The novel design of pi-shape microstrip antenna for multi-band dual-polarized response is presented. The proposed work explains the modal distributions at various resonant modes in pi-shape patch. By analyzing current distributions at its modes, the formulation for resonant length is presented. The frequencies calculated using them for a given patch dimension yields closer agreement with simulated data showing error less than 5%. Further by suitably selecting feed location, an optimum design of pi-shape patch for triple frequency response is presented. It yields 1-1.5% of impedance bandwidth at every frequency. The pattern over the three frequencies exhibits maxima in boresight direction that also shows reduced cross-polar radiation component.
