摘要
The interventional MR imaging (iMRI) suite is an advancement that is changing the way functional neurosurgery is being performed today. Intraoperative confirmation of lesion or electrode placement, verification of lesion size, and avoidance of vital structures are all advantages afforded by such a system. The iMRI suite, with magnetic field precautions and adaptation, seems to be safe even for deep brain stimulation and depth-recording electrodes for epilepsy. As the functional correlation between neuroanatomical substructures and neurophysiology increases, the need for accurate and precise target localization that iMRI affords will also likely increase.
