Structures and magnetic properties of Co powder milled with SiO2 powder

摘要
The mechanical alloying of Co powder with SiO2 powder was studied and found to lead to the transformation of hcp Co into fcc Co. The saturation magnetization of the powder mixture of Co and SiO2 remained the same, but the coercivity increased as the milling time increased. The powder mixture of Co and SiO2 milled for 100 h showed a high coercivity of 43.8 kA/m with a high saturation magnetization of 79 emu/g. However, extended milling over 100 h resulted in a decrease in both the coercivity and the saturation magnetization.
