Casting installation for hybrid processing with joint induction and electron-beam melting and refining

摘要
The pilot installation with joint electron-beam and induction heating was constructed in the PTIMA for superalloys melting and refining. The installation has the maximal induction heating power of 120 kW at the frequency of 2400 Hz, while the maximal EB heating power is 150 kW at the voltage of 30 kV. Experimental meltings were conducted in a combined ceramic-skull crucible with superalloy waste charge at the induction power of 35-60 kW and the EB power of 15 kW. The experiments have shown the possibility to use different variants of joint meltings, of which those with the induction heating for melting and the EB heating for refining seemed to be especially interesting. The most important problem in the nearest future will be to develop a crusible specifically for the joint induction-EB heating.
