Engineering profession: past, present and future

The engineering profession has a low social appreciation. However, the material background of the prosperity are fundamental for a country. The improvement of the social appreciation of the engineers is not a private issue of the engineering society, but it is extremely important, a necessary, however not sufficient condition for the progress of the humankind. Pin attempt is made in this paper to identify the main causes and the character of this phenomenon. We hope it innerly that it will trigger the society of technical educators to discuss the problem and to elaborate the appropriate philosophical approach to the solution.
