摘要
This article is devoted to the problem of speech manipulation in modern English mass media and its relation to teaching methodology. The author suggests that by integrating elements of functional-linguistic analysis into classroom reading activities it is possible to improve non-native speaking students' rhetorical skills, develop professionally relevant abilities to recognize verbal means of pragmatic impact and exploit discursive mechanisms of creating a convincing persuasive text.
