摘要
This paper deals with the relationship between diathesis oppositions and voice systems in ancient Greek. The active vs middle inflectional distinction concerns the present, aorist and future tense-aspect systems but its values are not everywhere the same, on account of its different syntagmatic and paradigmatic relationships. In the aorist and future verb forms where inflection is combined with the affixes -eta-/-theta eta-, the aorist shows active inflection, whereas the future displays the middle one. This difference is not a random quirk and may be correlated with other differences concerning the two systems. This paper will provide a consistent picture of the relationships between voice features and diathesis oppositions in both aorist and future.
