摘要
Carbon fibres have been used to strengthen reinforced concrete members. Although they are durable and have excellent engineering properties, the disadvantages include linear-elastic behavior and brittle rupture characteristic. A new hybridized carbon fibre-glass fibre (CF-GF) composite was engineered. It is shown both theoretically and experimentally that, using proper GF-to-CF proportions, the CF-GF hybridized composites demonstrate ductility. In addition, there seems to be synergetic strengthening when both fibres are used at the same time. Tensile test results of the CF-GF hybridized composites reveal that the rupture strains and stresses for carbon fibre phase of the composites are significantly greater than those expected from test results of individual CF and GF rovings.
