摘要
Composites that consist of a matrix made of borosilicate glass and of glass-fibres as a reinforcement were fabricated, The aim was to create a fibre reinforced glass that is translucent. The partners (fibres and glass matrix) were chosen because of their similar optical properties. Furthermore the used fibres show a better heat resistance than the appropriate glass matrix. All composites were fabricated by a known slurry infiltration process with subsequent heat pressing as it is already used for other fibre reinforced glasses, The fibres were coated by BN by a CVD process to create a suitable fibre/matrix interface.
