摘要
This paper presents a framework based on a cellular automaton for modeling and processing the spatiotemporal spread of communicable diseases. Such a toolbox might be a powerful instrument for health care organizations to generate disease prevention and contingency plans. By way of example, the outbreak of the avian flu virus was modeled, and various scenarios such as different medications, virus parameters (infectiousness, morbidity), quarantine, and natural changes of social behavior during an outbreak were simulated.
