摘要
MANET is a collection of mobile devices with a dynamically changing network topology and is devoid of any fixed infrastructure. Due to dynamic network topology, the links may appear and disappear at any time. Traditional routing protocols uses minimum hopcount as the path selection metric. However, this choice may result in long weak or low-quality links. So, defining a suitable link-metric for wireless networks is important. Thus, a hybrid multipath AODV routing protocol, which selects multiple routes on demand, based on the Signal-to-Interference plus Noise Ratio (SINR) is proposed. The protocol is named as SINR based Hybrid Multi-path Routing Protocol(SHMRP). As the nodes in MANET are fast moving, poor links are unpredictably increased. Also, MANETs being wireless networks are prone to interference due to the packets of the same flow. This interference reduces significantly, the network performance due to data loss, conflict, retransmission and so on. As a result, it is highly desirable to include as many strong and interference-less links as possible in a route. So it seems SINR-based decision is very useful to make the discovered route robust. Performance comparison of SHMRP and AOMDV, with QualNet simulations shows that the former is able to achieve better results.
