摘要
A data-centric approach to enterprise AM/FM/GIS systems development provides an insight to a desired methodology that enables the access of cross-functional data to a wide and growing number of enterprise users. The data-centric approach is vendor independent, and focuses on bringing data together from different data sources. Developing the approach through the use of Internet technology adds tremendous value to an organization, at a lower than normal cost, and in typically shorter time frames. By providing enterprise access to company assets, improved system wide effectiveness and efficiencies can be reached. No project of significance is every without risks, but a discussion of the effective measures that can be taken are highlighted. Additionally, techniques on how to develop data-centric applications are reviewed to help support new initiatives. Several examples are also presented showing the uniqueness in the application of the data-centric approach.
