QUALITATIVE RESEARCH ON SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY IN ROMANIAN SMEs - ARGES CASE STUDY

The social and political changes have raised new questions as well as expectations about governance and social responsibilities. More and more companies of all sizes and sectors have recognised the importance of their role in society and the real benefits of adopting a proactive approach to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). The first section will provide a general background of the concept of CSR and its evolution over time. The following section will draw some general ideas on CSR activities in Romania and their potential for socially responsible activities. The third section of this paper will draw on a qualitative research study and a preliminary quantitative one done in the Arges deportment regarding the level of awareness of the Romanian SMEs about the socially responsible activities and methods on how to get involved in socially responsible activities. The focus will be mainly on the results and drawbacks of the study. And the final section will provide the general remarks and potential for further research in the field.
