We obtain some combinatorial identities and investigate the monomial functional equation Sigma(h)(k=1) (-1)(k-1)[((n)(h-k)) - d((n)(h-k-1))][f(kx + y) + f(kx - y)] +n!(-1)(h)(1 + d)f(x) - ((n)(h))(1 - d)f(y) = 0, where h := {n/2, n : even and d := {0, n : even n+1/2, n : odd and d := {1, n : odd.
