Investigatation of Mechanical and Cutting Performance of Cemented Carbide Cutting Tools with CrTiAlN Composite Coatings

摘要
By using the closed field unbalance magnetron sputtering ion plating (CFUBMSIP), the YT14 cemented carbide milling cutter with TiN TiAlN and CrTiAlN composite coatings were made. The nano-indenter, scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction instrument were used to investigate the mechanical property and microstructure of these coatings. And the mechanical property and surface morphology of the CrTiAlN composite coatings are compared with TiN and TiAlN coatings. Then the composition and phases of the CrTiAlN composite coatings are studied. The influence of these composite coatings on the cutting performance of cemented carbide cutting Tools was also studied under the dry cutting circumstances. It showed that the sequence of cutting life for these coated tools were CrTiAlN>TiAlN>TiN. The research results mean that the composite coated tools have remarkable advantages in tools life.
