Study on the electrochemical performance of lead-acid battery with micro/nanostructure tetrabasic lead sulfate prepared via sol-gel method

摘要
Tetrabasic lead sulfate (4BS) is a common positive active material additive for lead-acid battery. It is used for inhibiting positive active material softened in order to improve its cycle life. In this paper, we synthesize a type of micro/nanostructure 4BS via sol-gel method and analyze the electrochemical performances of the positive active material for the lead-acid battery after adding the additive. Results indicate that when the sintering temperature is 400 degrees C, micro/nanostructure 4BS can be successfully obtained. The grain size can be controlled to below 1 mu m. The micromorphology of the cured positive active material with 1% micro/nanostructure 4BS is fine and shuttles evenly. Electrochemical analysis shows that the specific capacities of positive active material with the micro/nanostructure 4BS can reach 95.28, 84.81, and 74.53 mAh. g(-1) at 0.1, 0.25, and 0.5C, respectively. After 100 cycles, specific capacity only declined by 9.79%.
