摘要
We have started to study the feasibility of using a singular value decomposition-multiple-input multiple-output (SVD-MIMO) system as an advanced field pick-up unit (FPU) that offers large capacity and high link reliability. In this paper, we propose a practical adaptive bit and power allocation (ABPA) algorithm for a fixed-rate system. The algorithm uses the modulation error ratio (MER) margin, which corresponds to the difference between the expected MER after power allocation and a predetermined MER threshold, as a metric to obtain the optimal combination of bit and power allocation. The algorithm can provide the optimal bit and power allocation without making an exhaustive search. In a computer simulation, an SVD-MIMO system implementing our algorithm showed excellent BER performance under correlated fading channels.
