Ischemic Insult in a Young Patient After Traumatic Dissection of the Vertebral Artery

The ischemic insult in the young and vascular healthy patient is rather a rarity in emergency medicine. The following case report describes the successful emergency- and in-hospital-treatment of a 28-year-old patient who suffers a sudden break down while performing a shoulder pulling exercise in a gym. The clinical and radiological investigation showed a dissection of the right vertebral artery with a paramedian pontocerebellar ischemic insult.
