Energy Efficient Communication with Interdependent Source-Channel Coding: An enhanced methodology

摘要
The primary design goals of an energy constrained Wireless Sensor Network are bit error rate (BER) performance and energy efficiency. An enhanced methodology is proposed in this paper for the energy efficient Interdependent Source-Channel Coding scheme. The scheme minimizes the energy overhead for encoding/decoding and redundant bits' transmission typical of a forward error correction scheme. An intensified BER performance and a significant amount of compression in place of redundancy compared to standard codes are achieved. The proposed methodology, validated in the context of Mica2 mote and MicaZ mote, yields a notable raise in compression and coding gain compared to the earlier proposed methodology.
