摘要
Interaction of a long pulsed Nd:YAG laser with commercially pure titanium is investigated. The role of the laser pulse peak power in the keyhole formation is studied and a tendency of spattering and weld porosity was observed with increasing this parameter. The specific thermo-physical properties of titanium lead to increase the pulse energy and overlapping instead of peak power to achieve the maximum penetration depth. The effects of process parameters on the melt profile are studied systematically. Titanium response in the Nd:YAG pulsed laser processing is compared with the obtained results in the steel processing.
